In the sixth match of the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League, Royal Challengers Women will be locking horns with Gujarat Giants. Both teams will be hoping for redemption in the tournament when they clash at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on March 08. Wednesday. The Giants and the Bangalore Women are struggling in the tournament following a horrid start.

Gujarat played against Mumbai Indians Women in their opening match and ended up losing the game by a massive 143 runs, It was a forgettable batting performance by the team as they posted only 64 runs on the board while following a massive total of 208 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Dayalan Hemalatha was the top run-scorer for the team with a knock of 29 runs off 23 balls. 

The team could not make a comeback in their second game against UP Warriorz as they recorded a defeat by three wickets. Batting first in the game, the Giants posted 169 runs on the scoreboard in their allotted 20 overs courtesy of Harleen Deol who added 46 runs in 32 balls. However, despite Kim Garth’s five-wicket haul, the team could not defend the score as UP chased it within 19.5 overs.

With two back-to-back losses, Gujarat Giants are occupying the last position in the points table. Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women are also sailing in the same boat as Guajart Giants. They have also lost both their league games but because of a slightly better net run rate, are reeling at the second-last place in the standings.

RCB-W’s first loss in the T20 Championship came at the hands of Delhi Capitals Women. The team recorded a 60-run loss after failing to chase a massive 223 runs in the allotted 20 overs. The team was let down by the bowlers in the game. The second game saw a poor batting performance against Mumbai Indians Women. Batting first, the Challengers scored 155 runs. It was an easy target and Mumbai won in 14.2 overs only by nine wickets. 

With two consecutive losses to their name, both Gujarat Women and Royal Challengers Bangalore Women are in a tough place in the tournament.
