The opening batter Aiden Markram outperformed as he smacked his sixth Test hundred. He faced a total of 174 balls in the middle and added 115 runs to the scoreboard with the help of 18 boundaries. 

  Markram received support from his opening partner and former Test skipper Dean Elgar who played a good knock of 71 runs. Those two batters were the only good performers for the visitors as no other batter scored even 30 runs. Following the score, West Indies were restricted to 212 runs. Raymon Reifer was the only positive for the team as he smacked 62 runs off 143 runs. Jermaine Blackwood was the second-best batter for the hosts with 37 runs. 

  Anrich Nortje was the pick of the bowler with five wickets at an economy rate of 2.2. Kagiso Rabada and Gerald Coetzee also picked two wickets each. The third innings saw the magic of West Indies bowlers as they caused carnage on the 22-yard pitch. Markram again did well as he played a good knock of 47 runs. However, no other batter could make an impact as Kemar Roach picked five wickets while Alzarri Joseph and Jason Holder scalped two wickets each. 

  The West Indies batters could not continue the momentum gained by their bowlers as they posted only 159 runs in the final innings after batting for 41 overs. Jermaine scored 79 runs after facing 93 balls but did not receive support from the other batters. Rabada was the main reason behind the destruction of the home team as he picked up a total of six wickets.
