BAN vs AFG – One-off Test – Team Previews
Bangladesh
Bangladesh’s prowess in limited-overs cricket has surged over the past couple of years, but their performance in Test matches has not lived up to expectations. They have won only one out of their last ten matches, losing eight.
To boost their team strength, they will rely on Mushfiqur Rahim who has been in good form recently. However, with the absence of Shakib Al Hasan due to injury, all eyes will be on Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who is known for his skilful all-round performance.
The seam bowling attack of Ebadot Hossain, Shoriful Islam and Taskin Ahmed is expected to bolster the team’s chances. The absence of opening batsman Tamim Iqbal due to lower back pain will be a setback. Unfortunately, the team has been dealt another major blow with Shakib Al Hasan missing out on the upcoming match.
Afghanistan
Afghanistan lacks experience in Test cricket as they have only played six matches to date. Their last five-day match was in March 2021. The team will miss the services of their crucial players, Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, due to injuries.
In the absence of these players, Hashmatullah Shahidi will lead the team, who is known for his steady performance in the middle order. Izharulhaq Naveed, a leg-spinner, is expected to earn his first international call, whereas Zahir Khan will partner him at the other end.
The squad has also added the fast bowling pair of Ibrahim Abdulrahimzai and Nijat Masoud. Additionally, all-rounder Karim Janat, who displayed an excellent all-round performance in Afghanistan’s premier First Class tournament, has earned a call-up to the national side.

BAN vs AFG – One-off Test – Pitch Report and Toss Prediction
While batsmen may initially have a better experience for the first two days, from day three onwards, the pitch tends to deteriorate. There is some grass on the pitch, but it appears that it will ultimately be slow with inconsistent bounce. Given these conditions, it would be wise for either captain to win the toss and choose to bat.
BAN vs AFG – One-off Test – Win Prediction
Afghanistan are inexperienced at this level and without some of their key players, they don’t stand a chance against a strong Bangladesh side.
