NZ vs IND – 1st ODI – Team Preview
New Zealand
We witnessed one of the best performances by the Kiwi squad during the ICC T20 World Cup. Since the beginning of the tournament, they became heavyweights. However, there was a certain amount of bad luck on their side as they were eliminated in the semi-final game after facing defeat by Pakistan.
One of the biggest concerns for New Zealand is the below average form of Kane Williamson. He was unable to leave his mark in the tournament and his below-average performance has made it difficult for the middle order to perform as expected. Finn Allen and Glenn Phillips are the top batters in their team and will be playing a valuable inning against India.
Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson, and Mitchell Santner will be the key bowlers from the Kiwi side. The trio will be responsible for not allowing the opposition to score and build partnerships on the ground. Tim Southee is going through some tough but he is expected to bounce back soon.
India
India also came as a strong contender for the World Cup trophy during the tournament. They started their campaign with a thrilling win against Pakistan but got eliminated in the semi-final game after facing defeat against England. However, BCCI has given rest to the senior players and Hardik Pandya will be responsible to lead the team with some new faces.
Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, and Sanju Samson are making their comeback in the T20 format and this will be a chance for the trio to prove their worth for the national squad. Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant already carry a good experience in international T20 cricket.
In teh bowling section, the selection committee has not done any major changes. Washington Sundar and Yuzvendra Chahal will be part of the team with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammad Shami in the pace section.
