Last Week’s SA20 Prediction
About the SA20 League
T20 cricket is growing in popularity all across the globe – and, as such, there are numerous T20 leagues that are being played everywhere. This is fast, fun and exciting and fans of cricket can enjoy some serious action, no matter where they are located in the world.
It really started out with the Indian Premier League, the pioneer of this franchise cricket format. And even to date, it remains the most popular T20 tournament of all time. Other top global T20 leagues include the BBK, CPL, PSL and Super Smash, which also have a pretty impressive following, but are nowhere near the same as the IPL. Then we have the SA20 which is still growing and is attracting its own fans. There are numerous recent leagues, but it seems that the SA20 league is the one that is capturing people’s imagination and generating all the hype.
That’s why we will be looking at the latest SA20 season to help you get betting. We’ll look at the very best bets and betting markets available in the tournament.
The Next IPL?
The SA20 – the South Africa T20 League started its inaugural season on 10th January and essentially replaced the Mzansi Super League, which, after just 2 seasons of play, the league, unfortunately, ground to a halt.
The MSL was a franchise-based T20 cricket league that was launched in South Africa in 2018. It was an annual tournament that featured six teams representing different cities in South Africa. The league faced challenges during its first two seasons, including low spectator attendance, scheduling conflicts, and a lack of international star players. The global pandemic also disrupted the league’s plans for the 2020 season, leading to its cancellation.
The decision to replace the MSL with the SA20 League was made to revitalise domestic T20 cricket in South Africa and provide a better platform for local players to showcase their skills. The SA20 League features eight provincial teams, with a focus on developing young talent and creating a more competitive and exciting T20 tournament in South Africa.
The Format of the SA T20 Competition
The SA20 will kick off in January with the opening game getting the fans off to an excitable start. Following this, all six teams will face the opposition twice in a double round-robin cricket format.
The top four teams will then make it through to the semi-final playoffs.
- The highest-ranked team will play the team ranked 4th
- The 2nd-ranked team will play the team ranked number 3.
The winners of both semi-finals then go head to head in the finals, where they will fight it out to be crowned champions…

SA20 Prediction and Betting Tips
So, what do we think will happen at the end of the season?
The SA20 Winners
If you look at any cricket online bookmaker at the moment, they all seem to agree with us. According to the odds and prices available, it seems as though there are two frontrunners – the Paarl Royals and the MI Cape Town, both given an equal shot at winning the series.
Although MI Cape Town is the more hyped of the two teams – and, indeed, the most hyped team in the entire tournament, many would argue that the Paarl Royals are more evenly balanced in terms of overall talent. On their team, they boast some of the biggest hitters in cricket, including Joss Buttler, Jason Roy, Eoin Morgan and, of course, their captain, David Miller. Then they have Lungi Ngidi leading the way in the bowling talent pool.
They are filled with many talented seamers including Ferisco Adams and Obed McCoy. And, Ramon Simmonds also holds a lot of promise. We also have Fortuin and Shamsi leading the spin attack. Overall, they have an almost perfect blend of young and experienced cricketers.
If you look back at the inaugural season of the IPL, it was won by the Rajasthan Royals, even though they were the underdogs – and Paarl play under the very same owners. No doubt they will want to emulate that performance.
Teams To Keep an Eye on SA20 Prediction
Although most believe it will be won by either the MI Cape Town or Paarl Royals, it’s hard to deny that the Durban Super Giants may cause a few problems and are more than capable of posing a challenge. What’s more, because they aren’t the favourites, you will be able to get some pretty decent odds on them, so a cheeky punt might be worth it.
The squad is led by Quinton de Kock, who is a very experienced T20 player. He will be playing alongside Johnson Charles and Heinrich Klaasen – all very able to strike the ball pretty quickly. Then we have Jonker, who has scored over 2000 T20 runs and he, along with Kyle Mayers, are very reliable middle-order batters.
It is a squad with lots of all-rounders in it, including Jason Holder, Dwaine Pretorius, Keemo Paul and Wiaan Mulder. They also have plenty of experienced seam bowlers such as Kyle Abbott, Junior Dala and Reece Topley – who have all played over 100 T20 matches.
It seems highly likely that they will at least make it as far as the semifinals and we wouldn’t be surprised if they got through to the finals and put up a very good fight for the title.
Player of the Series SA20 Prediction
There are lots of contenders for this title, as the season is jam-packed with hugely talented players. Choosing the best of a great bunch will be tricky. However, having studied the players and the stats, we believe that Joss Buttler has a great chance of taking home the award for Player of the Series.
Buttler has a fantastic record in terms of T20 cricket. He has hit over 8905 runs in more than 314 innings, with an average of around 34.25. Moreover, he has scored each of the runs at an impressive strike rate of around 145.38.
What’s more, Joss enjoyed a very impressive outing in his most recent IPL season and ended up walking away as the winner of the Orange Cap. Having scored 863 runs from the 17 games, with an average of 57.33 and a strike rate of 149.05, the numbers speak for themselves. He hit four centuries – the joint highest achieved in one single season… and was pivotal in getting his team to the finals.
Because there are so many great players, you can also get great odds for backing him as well, so he’s certainly worth a shot.
