LAH vs PES – PSL – Team Previews
Lahore Qalandars
After securing a convincing 63-run victory against Quetta Gladiators in their previous game, Lahore Qalandars are starting to show their quality. The team has won two out of three games and is currently sitting in third place on the points table.
There are no new injury concerns for the team since the absence of Liam Dawson last week, while the addition of Rashid Khan earlier this week has further strengthened their lineup. The Afghan all-rounder bowled a spell of 1/17 (4 overs) and played a cameo 11 runs from 10 balls in their last match.
While Lahore Qalandars’ batting-order has yet to find a star performer, the entire lineup has been in good touch. Opener Fakhar Zaman, who scored 66 runs two innings ago, made a 22 off 14 balls in a 49-run partnership with Mirza Tahir Baig, who scored 31 runs after scoring 55 in a previous match.
Peshawar Zalmi
Peshawar Zalmi suffered a loss in their previous game against Islamabad United. They have played four games in total with two wins and two losses. Babar Azam and Mohammad Haris have been the standout performers for Zalmi in the batting department, but their bowling has been struggling.
Babar Azam has been the third-highest run-scorer of the season so far, anchoring the batting lineup while others attempt to take more risks. It will be intriguing to see how they fare against Lahore Qalandars’ star-studded attack. However, Saim Ayub’s form has taken a dip with scores of 3 and 0 following his 53-run knock, while Tom Kohler-Cadmore’s bat has been quiet since scoring 92 in the first game, managing just 12 runs in three innings since then.
Following their defeat, Peshawar Zalmi will need to reconsider their combination. However, with no quality options on the bench, as Shakib and Mujeeb are no longer available, they might opt to continue with the current XI.
