NZ vs IND – 1st ODI – Team Preview

New Zealand

Since their defeat against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, the Kiwis are going through some bad luck and some dip in their performance. In the third T20i against the visitors, New Zealand maintained their calm and was on their way to giving some hard time to the Indian batting lineup. However, due to rain, the match was declared tied and team India won the series.

Kane Williamson will be making his return to the team and is expected to do good in the middle order. He is finding it hard to score quick runs in the T20 format and now the ODI format will be his real test of time. Tom Latham is also making his return to the ODIs and James Neesham will be available for the two ODIs.

Tim Southee and Lockie Ferguson will be leading the pace attack for the Kiwis. To support them Matt Henry will be there in the playing XI. Mitchell Santner will be handling the spin attack in the middle overs. The bowling attack might also witness a new face in the allrounder section.

India

Team India is coming up with some major changes in their playing XI. It seems like BCCI and the selection committee has started preparing the squad for the ODI World Cup 2023. Shikhar Dhawan is making his comeback in the ODI format and will be leading the team as well. His credentials as a captain are strong and his presence will bring extra push to the new faces.

In the most recent ODI series against England, Rishabh Pant performed admirably, but the southpaw has to be more reliable. White-ball competitions have always been his achilles heel. Shubman Gill will open the batting, with Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav in the middle overs.

Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik, and Shardul Thakur will be responsible for the pace attack. Deepak Chahar is also expected to make his presence felt in the first ODI. In the spin section, Yuzvendra Chahal is expected to play and will be a huge asset in the middle overs. In absence of experienced bowlers like Jaspreet Burmah and Mohammad Shami, the pressure is on Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik.

NZ vs IND – 1st ODI – Toss Prediction and Pitch Report

Eden Park at Auckland is known to favour the batters. It is expected to be a high-scoring game. The toss-winning team should opt to bat first and give a big number to chase to the opposition.

NZ vs IND – 1st ODI – Match Prediction

India has done some wonders in the T20 format but they are entering Lion’s den with some new faces who have very less experience with international pitches and that too in the ODI format. New Zealand is well aware of the conditions and they have a much stronger and an experienced team. We predict that New Zealand will win the first ODI.
