BAN vs ENG – 2nd ODI – Team Previews
England
In the first one-day international at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, England and Bangladesh were evenly matched despite Dawid Malan’s impressive 114* off 145 balls on a turning track.
While England has been known for their aggressive Bazball approach in Test cricket and limited overs cricket for several years, they will need to demonstrate their skills against spin and patience to handle challenging periods.
Although most of the pacers on both teams performed well on the slow surface, England primarily used their seamers to attack and limit Bangladesh. They bowled out the home team for 209 before Malan’s unbeaten century saved England’s own batting slump and secured the victory.
Malan’s brilliant innings was the only standout performance from England, and their bowlers, especially Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali, demonstrated their understanding of the conditions by restricting Bangladesh’s scoring.
Bangladesh
In the first one-day international, Bangladesh struggled with the bat in conditions that they were expected to be familiar with. Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, their key players, did not perform up to expectations. They will need to improve if Bangladesh wants to level the series on Friday before the decider.
Tamim Iqbal, the Bangladesh opener, felt that the team should have scored more runs on a pitch where 250 was possible. Najmul Hossain Shanto scored his first ODI half-century in 16 matches, but he could have avoided getting out at 58 with better concentration.
Despite the loss, Bangladesh are unlikely to make changes to its team and will be relying on its senior players to perform. If needed, Ebadot Hossain and Hasan Mahmud could come in for Mustafizur Rahman, and Shamim Hossain has been added to the squad for the second ODI.

BAN vs ENG – 2nd ODI – Pitch Report and Toss Prediction
The Shere Bangla National Stadium provides a pitch that is generally favorable for batters, though the double-paced nature of the surface can also be advantageous for pacers. The bowlers can utilize the swing and bounce to challenge the batsmen. It is advisable for teams to bat first as the pitch tends to deteriorate as the match progresses, and the average score for the first innings is around 225.
BAN vs ENG – 2nd ODI – Match Prediction
Bangladesh may have home advantage, but this England side have proved itself in subcontinental conditions and should take the win and the series.
