- Prediction By: Malcolm Richards
On Thursday, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders will meet for the second time in IPL 2023. Sunrisers Hyderabad, who previously beat KKR by 23 runs at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata last month, will be looking to complete a double over their opponents this season.
- Harry Brook’s century was instrumental in securing the victory for SRH in that match.
- However, both teams have been struggling with inconsistency throughout the tournament, and they find themselves near the bottom of the points table with only 6 points each.
- With hopes of qualifying for the Playoffs stage rapidly dwindling, both SRH and KKR desperately need a win from this game.

SRH vs KKR – IPL – Team Previews
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad won their last game against Delhi Capitals, giving them a glimmer of hope to recover from a disappointing start to the IPL 2023 season, where they lost five out of their first seven games.
However, their overseas middle-order duo, Aiden Markram and Harry Brook, need to step up their game as they only managed to score eight runs between them in their previous match against Delhi. While Brook did score a century against the Kolkata Knight Riders earlier in the tournament, his performances have been lackluster otherwise.
Abhishek performed well as an opener in the last game, so he is likely to continue in that position, with Brook moving down the order. The team is expected to remain unchanged, with the exception of Akeal Hosein being replaced by Marco Jansen.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Knight Riders are heading into this match having won only one of their last three games, which was an away match. The other two games were at home, where they suffered defeats. Nitish Rana’s team is coming off a seven-wicket loss to Gujarat Titans in Kolkata.
Venky Iyer, Rinku Singh, and Nitish Rana form a strong middle-order batting lineup for the visitors. However, the top order has been inconsistent, and the team heavily relies on these middle-order batsmen for runs. If Jason Roy is fit enough to play as an impact player and Rahmanullah Gurbaz can continue his good form, the top order might be able to reduce the pressure on the middle-order.
But overall, KKR’s lineup lacks consistency. Sunil Narine and Andre Russell have plenty of experience and can be crucial with the ball. However, there isn’t much hope from the bowling department either. Roy is expected to open the batting with Gurbaz, who will also take over the wicketkeeping duties from Jagadeesan.

SRH vs KKR – IPL – Pitch Report and Toss Prediction
