The Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL 2023 campaign started on a high note with a convincing eight-wicket win over the defending champions, Mumbai Indians. However, the team’s performance in the next two games against Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants was disappointing, losing by 81 runs and one wicket respectively.

RCB has been delivering thrilling encounters as per its legacy. In every season, they have a solid batting lineup but lack a strong bowling attack to restrain their opponents. This season is no exception. RCB’s top order, comprising Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis, has been in fantastic form, with both players scoring two half-centuries each in the first three games. However, there are concerns around their middle order and their approach to batting in the middle overs, especially against spin bowling.

David Warner and Axar Patel have been doing the bulk of the scoring with the other batsmen disappointing. Axar’s brief innings have been the only positive for Delhi this season. Warner is currently second in the leading run-getters list, but his strike rate of 114.83 is a cause for concern. He has been unable to score runs at a rapid pace, and with DC losing wickets in quick succession, the Australian’s task has become even more challenging.
