RCB vs CSK – IPL – Team Previews
Royal Challengers Bangalore
In their latest game, RCB secured their second victory of the season in dominant fashion, once again exposing the Delhi Capitals’ lacklustre batting. Virat Kohli was predictably among the runs, notching up yet another half-century. Shahbaz Ahmed’s quickfire knock of 20 not out helped RCB reach a total of 174 for six. The opposition was never in the hunt, as Vijaykumar Vyshak’s outstanding figures of 3 for 20 led RCB to a comfortable 23-run win.
Virat Kohli has been in sublime form throughout IPL 2023, scoring half-centuries in all three of RCB’s home matches. He has been particularly impressive in the powerplay, scoring over 100 runs in that phase.
But after Faf and Kohli, the middle order is struggling for runs so far. Glenn Maxwell had one good outing against LSG but hasn’t delivered as RCB would have liked, while Dinesh Karthik hasn’t found his form of last year. Death bowling will continue to be a worry, particularly at the Chinnaswamy.
Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings have had a similar journey to their upcoming opponents on Monday, having won two and lost two matches so far in the IPL season. The team bounced back strongly after a big loss in their opening match against Gujarat Titans, winning two consecutive games including a convincing seven-wicket victory against Mumbai Indians.
However, in their last game, they fell just short of the target, losing by three runs to Rajasthan Royals despite impressive performances by Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni.
Jadeja will be a key factor to watch out for as he has a good record against both Kohli and Maxwell. He has dismissed the Australian batsman six times in the past and has also dismissed Kohli thrice while. If Chennai Super Kings bowl first, they may consider starting with Akash Singh and bringing in Ambati Rayudu as an Impact Player during their chase.

The Chinnaswamy Stadium is known for having a pitch that favours the batsmen, making it essential for the team batting first to score as many runs as possible. The ground has witnessed numerous high-scoring run chases in the past. Therefore, opting to bowl first would be a strategic move on this type of surface.
