Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings are heading into their upcoming match on the back of an impressive victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore. Devon Conway played a brilliant innings of 83 runs off just 45 balls, while Shivam Dube also contributed with the bat. All six CSK bowlers picked up wickets and successfully defended their target of 227 runs.
A win in this match would see them draw level on points with the Rajasthan Royals, who currently sit at the top of the table. While Ajinkya Rahane has been performing well for them, Ravindra Jadeja has struggled with the bat and has scored at a rate of 125.
Dhoni, on the other hand, has a strike rate of 210.71 and managed 59 runs in four innings. It may be worth considering promoting Dhoni up the batting order ahead of Jadeja, particularly during the death overs.
Additionally, CSK has been using Ambati Rayudu only as a batsman, substituting him in or out for a bowler depending on their bowling or batting position. Ben Stokes was seen practising during their training sessions, and if available, it would be interesting to see if he even makes the starting XI.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
The Sunrisers Hyderabad had a tough start to the season under new captaincy, losing their first two games, but bounced back with a win against the Punjab Kings thanks to Mayank Markande’s impressive performance. In their next game, Harry Brook’s century helped them defeat the Kolkata Knight Riders, but they suffered their third loss of the season to the Mumbai Indians. Despite a 36-run innings from Heinrich Klaasen, their batting lineup struggled to chase the target.
The team boasts quality players such as Aiden Markram, Mayank Agarwal, and Rahul Tripathi, who have the ability to take the game away from the opposition. However, Brook has only performed well once in the first five games, and his ability to play against spin has been questioned. The Sunrisers might consider dropping him for an extra spinner, as they will likely face more spin at Chepauk.
The Sunrisers have also struggled with their powerplay run-rate of 7.13, which is the lowest among all teams. They may need to approach their upcoming game against CSK differently and attack their quicks early on to avoid leaving themselves with too much to do against the spinners in Chennai.

CSK vs SRH – IPL – Pitch Report and Toss Predictions
The MA Chidambaram Stadium pitch in Chennai is known for being bowler-friendly, particularly for spinners. A first innings score of 175 is considered decent on this surface, and opting to bowl first could be the way to go.
