THU vs MLR – BBL – Team Previews
Sydney Thunder
Sydney Thunder is on a losing streak of three matches and the last time they won the fixture was against Perth Scorchers. The squad is finding it difficult to maintain the winning momentum and because of the same reason, they might not make it to the playoffs.
Against Hobart Hurricanes in the last game, the Thunders were not good with the bat. Mathew Gilkes, David Warner, and Sam Whiteman again failed to impress and this is the major concern for the team. Oliver David gave much-needed stability to the team but the rest of the batters were unable to give him the required support.
Their bowlers failed to restrict the opposition in the chase to lose by 5 wickets. Daniel Sams was brilliant with the ball with figures of 4-0-18-4 in the match. Chris Green bowled an economical spell of 4-0-24-0. All the other bowlers went for runs at over 10 RPO in the match.
Melbourne Renegades
Melbourne Renegades are currently at the third spot in the BBL point table but it is still not confirmed whether they will be able to make it to the playoffs or not. Even Renegades have shown inconsistency in winning the matches. They have won five games and have lost the same amount.
Joe Clark and Tom Rogers provided a good start to the team but the rest of the batters failed to continue the momentum in the previous game against Melbourne Stars. However, the squad won the game but it was not an at-par performance by the batting lineup.
Their bowlers restricted the opposition to 156/7 to win the tense match by 5 runs. Kane Richardson was superb with the ball with figures of 4-0-17-2 in the match. While Will Sutherland maintained his composure in the decisive over to win by 5 runs, Fawad Ahmed, R Kellepotha, and Tom Rogers each contributed with significant match-changing wickets.

Manuka Oval is a paradise for the pace attack. The pacers enjoy the bounce and slowness provided by the pitch. The toss-winning team should opt to bowl first because it will be easier for them to keep the game in control.
